Anna & May
Sex: mares
Breed: miniature horses
Color: dark bay
Height: short!

Anna and May are the farm miniatures.  Anna (the daughter) and May (the mother) were given to us several years ago.  May is trained to drive and we hope to use her and Anna to pull our pony cart in the near future.  They have appeared in several parades and VBS programs, even going inside the church and climbing the steps on one occasion.  Anna is always there to greet new people and horses, while May tends to keep to herself, but they both love all the attention they can get.

Purchased as a two-year-old, Sugar was intended for 4-year old Hattie.  Hattie and Sugar made a great team and Sugar taught Hattie a lot.  She produced one colt with Wonder Boy (Lamri’s son), named Lynden’s Mutt Ramey, named after a dear friend of our family.  Sugar is a walk/trot star, carrying many lesson kids in their first lessons and first shows.  And now, thanks to the hard work of a few advanced students, Sugar is now cantering and jumping at home and shows. Sugar is also a fabulous carting pony, having appeared in several parades for Ketterman’s Jewelers, being sure to step around every manhole cover in the street.  She got to compete at the State 4-H Horse Show in Lexington in September of 2009, where she was the reserve carting champion against many seasoned carting show ponies with one of the Caterlopes 4-Hers.

Farnley Lamri (Lamri)
Birthdate: May 5, 1979
Sex: mare
Breed: welsh
Color: dark bay
Height: 13.0h
Sire: Farnley Frere Jacques (Farnley Bellringer x Farnley Lorgnette)
Dam: Farnley Fleta (Plum Creeks Midnight x Farnley Fay)
Registered with: VPBA, WPSA

Lamri is the oldest resident at Lynden.  Purchased at a Farnley Farm herd reduction sale in 1990, Lamri already had several foals to her credit.  She sold with a colt at her side (we named him Wonder Boy), who we bred to Sugar and Glenny. We later sold Wonder Boy, but continued to breed Lamri to Mr. Ketterman’s thoroughbred stud, My Boy Dan.  This coupling resulted in two fabulous large ponies, Eddie and ELB.  Through the years, Lamri has served as a first pony for the rest Ketterman girls, and even carried them safely through the hunt field with Piedmont Foxhounds in the hilltopper group.  She is now a fabulous walk/trot lesson pony and one of the best at teaching kids to canter in the Lynden lesson program.

High Cotton (Glenny)
Birthdate: April 14, 1986

Registered with: VPBA (registered name: Glencoe Muse)

Purchased as a four-year-old, Glenny was Richie's first finishing project.  Richie and Glenny made a great team, showing and even foxhunting with Piedmont.  Glenny really taught Richie how to ride!  By the time all of the other younger Ketterman sisters were ready to ride her, they were too big for Glenny, so she became a broodmare.  She produced three lovely fillies with Wonder Boy (Lamri’s son).  Now, Glenny is used in walk/trot lessons for beginners and thanks to the hard work of a few advanced students, Glenny is now cantering and jumping at home and shows with students.

WF Lucky Charm (Lucky)
Birthdate: April 12, 1989
Sex: mare
Breed: ½ welsh, ½ arabian

Just Chillin’ (Nerd)
Birthdate: February 25, 2000
Sex: gelding

Color: chestnut, white spot on girthline
Height: 14.2h
Sire: A Bear Fax (Super Bear x Wimpy Dockette)
Dam: My Lady Companion (Companion x I Nita Bonanza)
Registered with: eligible for APHA

Nerd was purchased as a 6-month old colt at an auction.  His name came one day when we were playing with him in the field.  We were trying to come up with a name for him (his previous owners called him Copenhagen), and Richie called him a Nerd because he was acting out one of his antics.  We thought we had and “ah, ha!” moment, and the name stuck.  We broke and trained him easily, as he was the quietest pony we have ever broke.  In his first year of showing, as a 3-year-old, he was large pony champion three out of four shows, showing against seasoned veterans, including our very own Eddie!  He continued successfully in the show ring and served as a great project for the younger Ketterman girls.  When Jackie started lessons, Nerd was four, and Jackie used him without hesitation.  He was so quiet, he did the beginner walk/trot lessons daily.  As the lesson kids have advanced, so has Nerd, carrying many kids over their first jumps and through their first courses.

Sex: mare
Breed: ½ thoroughbred, ¼ arabian, ¼ welsh
Color: bay
Height: 14.1 1/4h
Sire: unknown
Dam: unknown
Registered with: n/a

We purchased Dancer as a three-year-old, green broke, at one of Professional Auction Services’ sales at Frying Pan Park in Fairfax, VA.  She quickly became one of the main riding ponies for the Ketterman girls.  She won many championships, was high point at at least one show, and was a fantastic mover, winning most of her under saddle classes.  She also foxhunted.  Unfortunately, when Katie was riding Dancer at a show, Dancer somehow injured herself.  Despite many different treatments, Dancer has not been able to be ridden since.  However, this was a blessing in disguise, as Dancer has been a wonderful broodmare for us.  She has produced three lovely fillies and one colt.  We hope to get more lovely foals from this wonderful mare.
